My doctoral research, completed at Queen Mary University of London under the supervision of Professor Alice Sullivan, focused on the synthesis, characterisation, and catalytic applications of metal phosphonate-modified silicas. I was awarded the Brewin Research Prize for Outstanding Academic Achievement.

My research interests sit at the intersection of chemistry education and pedagogy, with a particular focus on how students at secondary level construct and refine their understanding of chemical concepts.
I am currently exploring the literature on Johnstone's Triangle as a framework for understanding how students move between macroscopic, submicroscopic and symbolic representations in chemistry, and what pedagogical conditions support or hinder that transition at IGCSE and A-Level.
A second area of interest is the relationship between curriculum design, academic coordination and chemistry pedagogy, and how their intersection shapes student outcomes in international school contexts.
This work is at an early stage. My current focus is on literature review and on developing a coherent research question that can be pursued rigorously within my teaching practice.
